Summer Term 2025

Welcome to Year 2.  Our topic for this term is Famous for five minutes.

In our RELIGION lessons our first topic will be all about the Pentecost, exploring what happened on the day of Pentecost, why it is an important event for Christmas and how it marks the beginning of the Church. We will learn about the coming of the Holy Spirit, the symbols of Pentecost and how it is celebrated around the world today.
During our ENGLISH sessions this term we will look at a range of texts from authors such as Emily Gravett and Jeanne Willis. We will practice using capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks correctly, whilst exploring different types of writing such as letters, stories and non-chronological reports. We will learn how each text type is written and have a go at writing our own.
In our MATHS lessons we will be exploring fractions, learning how to find halves, quarters and thirds of shapes and number. We will also revisit skills previously learnt such as adding, subtracting and solving word problems to help build our confidence and understanding.

Notices and Key Dates

P.E. is on Thursday mornings. Please come to school on Thursdays in your P.E kit.

Spellings will still be sent home each week in your child’s communication log please take time to practise these at home. Children will also be given some time at school to learn their spellings.

Please send your child in with their communication log and reading book daily.
